February 11, 2012, 10-2. Tree Lodi will be planting more than 200 trees in a 15-acre portion of the new DeBenedetti Park, at the corner of Century Blvd. and Lower Sacramento Road. Please consider joining us for this exciting time and contributing to this effort. (More details to follow)

Meet at Lodi Parks and Recreation Center on Stockton Street and proceed from there to the many parks in the community where Tree Lodi has planted and maintained trees over the past 6 years. We will be surveying these trees and performing minor maintenance. We'll gather at 8:30 and work until noon. Call Gordon at 248.302.4328 for last minute details.

Lodi Academy students will perform service maintaining and replacing trees (9) at Century Meadows Park in southwest Lodi, under the supervison of Tree Lodi and City Parks and Recreation Department. 8:30 - 11:30. Neighbors of the park are invited to join us.

Tree Lodi helped advise Eagle Scout Josh Edmondson and his scout crew on tree planting for the upcoming Sister City Celebration (Kofu, Japan). Three flowering plum trees were planted along the walkway to the entrance.

Tree Lodi will be participating with the Senior Service Center in planting three redwood trees to the west of the patio. Time is at 10:30. Meet in the south parking lot off of Walnut Street, west of Hutchins. The public is invited to attend for the planting and short planting demonstration. Call Joyce at 334.6668.

Tree Lodi will be hosting an information table at the annual Senior Awareness Day at Micke Grove. Please come to our table and pay a visit. Also enjoy all the lovely trees at Micke Grove park.

Arbor Day at Lawrence School.

On Saturday February 20 we completed a day of Centennial Tree Maintenance and replanting. Originally planted in 2006 for the city of Lodi Centennial, the 100 trees need care, and a number need to be replaced. Meeting at the Lodi Parks office, 111 North Stockton Street, at 9 am. Tree Lodi co-hosted a tree workshop with Lodi Parks and UCCE San Joaquin County. The event was held at Hutchins Street Square from 8 am until noon.

We planted trees at the entrance to the beach area at Lodi Lake. This is a tribute to one of our members, Rose Lazarro, who has done so much for the community over the years.

Tree Lodi with other community partners continued the great work the Soroptimist International of Lodi started in 1971 by supporting maintenance and rehabilitation projects through the Lodi Community Foundation. (Monday, 11:30 - 1:30, lunch provided.

(Saturday, 8-12) Tree Lodi assisted in renovation of the Sunshine Trail at Micke Grove.

Tree Lodi was featured at Lodi Electric Utility's EnergySmart Workshop at Hutchins Street Square for second time. 20 trees raffled. Informative lectures given by director Bill Hobson were well received.

Tree Lodi participated in the Earth Day celebration at Houston Elementary School, Acampo. Well received by students and parents.

Tree Lodi participated in the dedication of the new Century Meadows Park. City officials present. BBQ. Police Dept. Canine Unit gave demonstration.

Participated in the Arbor Day celebration at Vinewood Elementary School with Lodi city and Lodi Unified School District officials in attendance. 7 trees were planted at the school.

7 trees planted in Legion Park, Lockeford Street in preparation for steet widening

Tree Lodi, in partnership with the San Joaquin Historical Society and Museum is awarded a $10,000 Lodi Lion's Club grant for renovation of the 30-year old Sunshine Trail originally built by the Soroptomist Club of Lodi. Work done in 2008 using community volunteers and tree professionals.

Tree Lodi planted 5 Crepe Myrtle trees at Emerson Park, assisted by Brownie Scout troop. This project completed the renovation of Emerson Park.

Tree Lodi participated in Earth Day celebration at Houston Elementary School, Acampo. Tree education materials well received by students and parents.

Tree Lodi participated in the Arbor Day celebration at Borchardt Elementary School. A tree was planted.

Tree Lodi members did volunteer tree pruning at Discount Pets and Pep Boys Automotive.

11 trees planted on private properties in Lodi through an application process called "Trees in Front Yards."

Tree Lodi, city staff, and Mayor Hitchcock planted the 100th Centennial tree in front of Hutchins Street Square.

Tree Lodi planted a large Valley Oak tree at Lodi Lake in memory of Tree Lodi member Chuck Harmon.

By now 71 Centennial trees have been planted in 9 locations by Tree Lodi members and other community volunteers.
